Question : My son at 24 has had testicular cancer, he is now 38. 2 weeks ago his pet scan hit a hot spot in lung. 1x8 x 1x8. what is the chances it is from testicular cancer...If it is very likely, what is survival of lung cancer. Please be truthful?

Brief Answer: Unlikely Detailed Answer: It is 14 years since treatment for testicular cancer. Chances of recurrence and metastasis (spread) are very remote but never zero. Why was a PET scan done? The result should be viewed with that. I do not know the type of testicular cancer and the treatment given. However, the chances of cure are very high in testicular cancer. I do not know why you have jumped to the diagnosis of lung cancer. Please check with your doctor for interpretation of PET scan with relevant clinical and other investigatory findings.
