Brief Answer:
USG is very sensitive to detect liver diseases.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX
Ultrasound(USG) is very sensitive to detect hepatobiliary diseases.
Normal echotexture of liver in homogeneous. In many liver conditions its echotexture is altered, hence it is very helpful in diagnosis.
If it is bright in echotexture then it indicates fatty deposition in liver.
If lesion is hypoechoic(dark)then it may be due to cysts, abscess etc.
USG can detect cysts, mass, calcifications etc in liver.
Colour doppler can assess vascularity in liver.
