Brief Answer:
USG Neck, Sinus CT, VL'Scopy

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Get a Neck USG (Ultrasound) done.

2. This seems to be a lymph node if it responded to antibiotics.

3. You have a Post Nasal Drip (PND). Get a plain Sinus CT done.

4. This is unlikely to be cancer. A Videolaryngoscopy (VL'Scopy) will settle the issue.

5. You may follow up with the results here for further treatment options.

If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
Yes, these are simple, non-invasive tests.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. Yes you must approach the same or another doctor for these tests.

2. It is better to get these tests performed as they will help confirm any lump.

3. If these investigations are normal, there is no cause for worry and observation/medication will suffice.

4. These are simple, non-invasive tests.

If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Brief Answer:
Definitely not cancer

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. These are not the symptoms of cancer.

2. Cancers are rarely painful and the mucus is usually a Post Nasal Drip. Your mucus increases after eating, and is more in the morning.the difficulty in swallowing is usually due to a dry throat, irritation of the throat by the mucus and reflux.

3. Cancer symptoms are progressive (size of the lump will not decrease) and will not respond to antibiotics. You also have no other symptoms such as change in voice, breathlessness, dysphgia (inability to swallow), bleeding, increasing, painless lump and so on. Hence these tests should suffice.

If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
Avoid long term use of Finepcia.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. Finasteride (Finepcia) has a few side effects.

2. On long term use, it may lead to decreased libido, increased chances of prostate cancer and male breast cancer.

3. There seems to be no such problem with limited use of finateride. It is a widely prescribed drug. Henc ethere is no cause for worry.

4. Upload your test results as they are done. You may also follow up directly at bit.ly/DrSumit-Bhatti

Brief Answer:
Enlarged lymph node, not cancer if it has shrunk. Continue medication.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. If the lump has shrunk, it is an inflamed lymph node and not cancerous.

2. The pain and tenderness will subside with treatment.

3. Request another course of the same antibiotic along with supportive medication such as painkillers (such as Combiflam) and anti-inflammatory agents (such as Disperzyme).

If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
Anti-allergic , mucolytic, steam inhalation, plain Sinus CT Scan.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. As the lump has completely subsided, it is no longer a cause for concern.

2. These are symptoms of a post nasal mucus drip.

3. Request your doctor for an anti-allergic mucolytic. Take regular steam inhalation.

4. Get a plain Sinus CT done. Further medication can be discussed based on the findings.

If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.
