Posted on Wed, 30 Jul 2014
Question: My son is 19 and just noticed a quarter size lump next to his nipple. when he squeezed it he said some white fluid came out. He is in great shape but I know he does smoke weed and drinks. I am going to make him a doctors appointment but just want an idea of what it may be. What may be the cause?

Brief Answer:
It could be simple cyst.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to us.

The described symptoms looks like a cyst to me. Lipoma being the other possibility.
How long as it been there?
Is it painful?
Is there redness around the area?
Is the discharge foul smelling?

Generally lump of this nature next to the nipple are not concerning. However you might need to a doctor, a surgeon perhaps who can perform a physical examination. If needed an ultrasound scan be performed before excising it.

In the meanwhile you can try warm compression.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any questions I will be happy to help you.

Thank you.
