What Does A Lump On The Leg Of A Child Indicate?
Question: Hello. My 4 1/2 year old son woke up today and has a half baseball size lump on the outside of his leg, just below his knee, so at the top part of his lower leg. He says it doesn't hurt, but itches every now and then. He hasn't had a major falls or run ins with furniture recently. Thoughts?
Brief Answer:
Most likely due to allergic reaction
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for asking on this platform
I have seen the image and after going through it and your detailed history, to me it appears to be due to some allergic reaction.
The points towards allergic cause is Sudden onset, redness with swelling and itching and there is no history of trauma.
Giving anti allergic like cetrizine/hydroxizine with out without steroid will help.
I would suggest you to consult a pediatrician for evaluation and prescription of medicines.
I hope with this he will get the relief.
I shall be glad to help you out if you have any more questions.
Regards
