Brief Answer:
Femoral hernia which could not be diagnosed with MRI.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

MRI can give incorrect image in case of hernia. Please note that some patients have hernia symptoms only when standing. While lying down, the lump which is hernia can be invisible. That is why, hernia visualization should be done while standing and during Valsalva maneuver (pushing hard like on stool). And as MRI is done while lying down, hernia can be missed.
Moreover, women have femoral hernia instead of inguinal hernia. This gives lump below the groin which can appear in the thigh.
Bowels problems like bloating, nausea can be also related to the hernia if it contains intestine.

Sciatica pain starts from the back through the buttock and downward the leg. Hernia pain is located in the front (groin instead of buttock). Hernia pain do not go away after typical painkillers.

I suggest you to consult general surgeon with your problem. Ultrasound while standing and during Valsava maneuver should be done. If this will rule hernia out, colonoscopy is the next step.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
