Question : Oh, yes, please! Sometimes when I move my bowels, while straining, the palms of my hands start to burn and there is a metallic taste in my mouth. Any ideas what is causing this?

Brief Answer:
Compression by muscles.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit small and specific.

The most probable cause of you getting the burning sensation in the palms and metallic taste in the mouth are:
- While straining at moving bowels the muscles of the neck get taught and case pressure over the nerves supplying the palms causing burning sensation.

-The pressure on the salivary glands by the compressing muscles might expel the concentrated saliva into the mouth giving metallic taste.

I hope this answers your query. Please feel free to ask for more or if you need further clarifications if you feel there is a gap of communication.
