Question : Hi I have found a pea sized lump inside my tongue, its near the tip very slightly to the right. I have just had conjunctivitis and a sore throat last week and am wondering if they are connected to this. I cant see it when I poke my tongue out can only feel it when I squeez my tongue with two fingers one on top and one on the bottom of my tongue. Im very scared??????
Brief Answer:
it is not related!!
Detailed Answer:
hello
The pea sized lump which you are feeling in your tongue is likely to be a mucus retention cyst or a small organized blood clot and is not related to your sore throat or conjuctivitis.
Please dont worry , as this is very common and needs no treatment as most ill resolve on their own.
If however you develop pain , difficulty in swallowing or the swelling increases in size , please meet your ent doctor , who will examine you and surgically remove it for you.
You do not need any medications for this type of swelling.
Take care!
