Question : My 14 year old daughter has a rash under her armpit. She has had it for approximately one week and it has gotten really bad the past two days. She is a softball player, can shower up to two times per day, and applies old spice liberally throughout the day. It is now very bright red and painful. It is circular shaped. She popped three blisters in the area last night and said that the fluid was clear. She has had sensitive skin for a number of years. Any suggestions?

                                    Brief Answer:
looks like tinea corporis and contact dermatitis
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to health care magic.
From the image and description it looks like a fungal infection. Called as tinea corporis.
This can be treated easily with topical antifungals like clotrimazole applied thrice daily for atleast a week.
The blisters with fluid could also indicate contact dermatitis with chemicals like old spice which should be better avoided .
Mostly related to sweating in the armpit .
Wishing your daughter speedy recovery.

Can you get antifungals such as the clotrimazole over the counter? If not can you prescribe it for her locally?
