Question: i have a small pea sized movable lump on the top of my kneecap. It seems to have just appeared today at least that is when I noticed it. It is soft and moves around in a certain area very freely. I was wondering what this might be.

Brief Answer:
swelling of soft tissue which can be venous clot.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have studied your case.

As per your history it looks swelling of soft tissue which can be venous clot or benign swelling like lipoma.
If swelling is not reducing I will advise you to further investigate for the cause of swelling.
If there is no pain and size of swelling remains same then you can wait and watch.
If symptoms persist then I will advise you to do MRI and Ultrasound of the swelling.
If its collection or benign mass it can be excised.
You may need blood investigation.
Till time you can take anti-inflammatory and antibiotic if infection is suspected.
If you send clinical photo I can help you better in treatment.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
