What Does A White Patch On Leg Indicate?

Question: Hi,
I am 27 yr old and have a small localized white patch on my left leg (attached is the image of the patch) and it started appearing when i was 11 yrs old and grew very slowly for about 3 to 4 yrs and stopped. I have couple of questions regarding this.
1.Will it grow and are there any chances of it reappearing else where ?
2.Will it affect my future generation ?
3.What are the best options for getting it cured ?
Regards

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
From the image attached it seems you have vitiligo
1) As its stable since long, chances are it wont progress further. Also probability of it occuring elsewhere is very low as it's been stable since years.
2) vitiligo can be sporadic or familial. Familial incidence is low(10 to 20%).
3) in your case initially I would advise that you apply tacrolimus 0.1% twice in a day and a potent steroid like mometasone in night for a month. If resoonse is suboptimal we may start topical psoralen application followed by sun exposure. If this too doesnt work, you may get vitiligo surgery done.
Hope this helped.
Take care
