What Does "basilar Atelectasis Or Scarring And Superimposed Infection" Mean?

Question: what is basilar atelectasis or scarring and superimposed infection process, particulary on the left. also says minimal linear consolidation or pneumothorax? is this something to be concerned about and looking into futher?

Thanks for posting the query on HCM. After going through the query, I would like to comment the following:

1. Your Xray picture seems to be of a secondary infection in the old healsed scar marks of the lungs.

2. If there is doubt regarding pneumothorax, yhen its better to get yourself evaluated by a Pulmonologist especially since you have co existing COPD.

3. An expiratory chest Xray pa View film helps delineate pneumothorax or collection of air in the coverings of lungs which if present needs to be managed as per severity protocol.

4. You need to take antibiotics if there is clinical evidence of infection. A lot here will depend on your clinical symptoms.
