Question : Hi, I had a conflation tonsillectomy 13 days ago and aside from the fact that I bled a little today which worried me, I noticed that one side is healing different than the other. On one side I have an open space and seems to be healing great. But the other side, I have what seems as a piece of tissue from where my tonsil used to be all the way to where my uvula is kind of covering the whole area and my soft palate seems to be lower in that area as well as my long uvula (wasn't long before) dragged to this side and attached to this piece of tissue I see. I have a picture. What could this be?
Brief Answer:
needs medical attention
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
thanks for your query.
In my opinion, bleeding post op after 10 days can be because if secondary infection in the operated area. The fullness at the operated site can be because of Slough and post op edema. Treatment would be to evaluate and treat with antibiotics of there is secondary infection. Betadine gargling thrice daily is the only empirical medicine. I would suggest you to consult with the doctor and get evaluated.
Hope my answers have helped you.
Thanks.
