What Does Blood Pressure Of 116/80 And Pulse 95 Indicate?

default
Posted on Sat, 11 Oct 2014
Question: My blood pressure is 116/80 and pulse is 95. What could be responsible? I can remember two nights before I took sweet potatoes with sauce made with green pepper, carrots, onions and garlic. I took SYSTOLEX, krill oil and an aphrodisiac. I also took a multivitamin WELLMAN PLUS. I just another reading and it is 109/69 and pulse 97. This after sweet potatoes, krill oil and WELLMAN PLUS. What could be responsible? I suspect the aphrodisiac. This should rather increase the pressure. I took that two days ago.

Brief Answer:
External factors to be excluded first...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back XXXXXXX

Thank you for following up.

If your blood pressure is lower than 120/90, then, it is considered within normal range.

Having heart rate of 95 is indicative for external factors such as consuming aphrodisiac foods/drinks. However, I advise further tests to exclude:
- anemia: complete blood count
- thyroid problems: thyroid function tests

Hope it helped!

Please I forgot to mention this. I noticed that immediately after eating I normally feel terribly weak until after an hour. I noticed this even before I was diagnosed with high BP. What is responsible? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Control blood sugar when you have the episode...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back XXXXXXX

Feeling terribly weak 1 hour after eating might be related to oscillations in blood sugar level (drops). I advise to measure your:
- blood sugar
- blood pressure
to observe possible changes 1 hour after eating or when you have such weakness episode.

Avoid foods high in refined sugar, have your meals regularly.

Brief Answer:
It's due to hyperactive sympathic system...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back XXXXXXX

Please bare in mind that high blood pressure and increased body temperature is indicative for sympathetic system hyperactivity.

That's why when your blood pressure is increased, the sympathetic system is hyperactive leading to increased body temperature.

Thank doctor. Please what does hyperactive sympathic system mean? I also noticed that when I wake in the afternoon and check my BP it is 145/101 even after taking SYSTOLEX. How can I lower the diastolic reading?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Benard Shehu (9 hours later)
Brief Answer:
It means an excess of adrenaline....

Detailed Answer:
Hi back XXXX

I mean an excess of adrenaline and noradrenaline in blood indicates hyperactivity of Sympathetic nervous system.

For lowering diastolic you don't need any specific medication only dietary and lifestyle change.
- Reduce salt intake by avoiding salty food.
- Reduce animal fatty intake.
- Reduce alcohol intake to a maximum one glass of wine per day.
- Loose weigh
- Increase physical activity. At least walk 1 hour a day every day,
Please keep in and that normalization of diastolic BP needs time (around 1-2 month) to take effect.

Wish you health!
