Question: I vomited last evening and it was a reddish brown mucus color. This morning my stool was very black. I did have a small glass of jagermeister. Could that be the reason?

Brief Answer:
Jagermeister drink containing alcohol, might've aggravate your situation

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and I understood your concerns.

You are reporting to :
- have liver disease
- have had a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy recently

while last night you had a small glass of jagermeister.

I am glad that tests you did recently resulted fine.

To my information, jagermeister is an alcoholic drink (35%) mixed with various spices. Alcohol is not advised in patients with liver disease as it will aggravate the symptoms.

So, taking all these into account, I'd advise to consult with your GI specialist to evaluate your current health situation. When liver disease is present, GI bleeding is always unpredictable. A small amount of bleeding might cause the reddish brown mucous you have noticed.

That's why I usually advise my patients to take always preventive measures (medical evaluations and healthy diet regimen).

Hope it was of help!
