What Does Coughing Up Of Blood By A Child Indicate?

Question: My daughter is living in a condo and in the master bedroom right over the bed is a very large area of black mold growing. There is a ceiling fan that is kept on 24/7. My grandson who is 11yrs became sick the other night & coughed up a large blood clot. He was taken to the nearest ER to be checked. They ran bloodwork and his WBC came back at 2.4. They did an ENT on him, it showed that he has gerd, which he was born with & also at birth it was discovered that he had pneumonia he was life flighted out to XXXXXXX XXXXXXX where he stayed in the NICU unit for a few weeks. He has asthma & uses his inhaler as needed. Could the black mold in my daughter's bedroom cause my grandson to have internal bleeding & be the cause of the blood clot he coughed up? He was transferred to Univ of MD medical center in XXXXXXX this past Friday but the doctors couldn't come up with an answer so they sent him home?? His pediatrician thinks it may be a possiblility that he has leukemia. This has been the discussion between the doctors & hospitals.

I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

He has cough with bleeding. So it is hemoptysis.
Causes of hemoptysis should be searched.

It can be respiratory cause or due to bleeding disorders.

Go for chest x ray, complete blood count, peripheral smear examination and coagulation profile. It will give you exact idea regarding cause. Then plan accordingly. I don't think so that it is due to black mold.
