Question: Hi, curious to the blood pressure on my 13 year old daughter this morning 120/101 with a pulse of 54. This was taken after she had been standing for two minutes. She has recently been diagnosed with POTS and we are waiting to get in to see her Cardiologist in a couple weeks. I'm concerned about that blood pressure

Brief Answer:
Need ER visit

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
101 diastolic reading in your child needs urgent medical attention.
It is better to take her to ER.
She may need continuous monitoring and anti hypertensive medications.
POTS causes rise in heart rate but after 10 minutes of standing.
She needs further tests to rule out thyroid and other endocrine causes like pheochromocytoma.
Wishing your child good health.
