What Does Elevated MCV Level Indicate?

I recently got some bloodwork back and am concerned about two elevated numbers. Results are as follows:
WBC | | 7.3 | | |3.8-10.8 TH/UL
RBC | | 4.75 | | |4.2-5.8 MIL/UL
HEMOGLOBIN | | 15.1 | | |14.0-18.0 G/DL
HCT | | 45.0 | | |38.5-50.0 %
MCV | | | 94.8 | H |80.0-94.0 FL
MCH | | 31.8 | | |26.0-34.0 PG
MCHC | | 33.5 | | |32.0-36.0 G/DL
RDWCV | | 13.2 | | |11.5-15.0 %
PLT | | 242 | | |140-400 TH/UL
MPV | | 8.7 | | |7.4-10.4 FL
NEUT | | 49.1 | | |40.0-85.0 %
LYMPH | | 35.7 | | |15.0-40.0 %
MONO | | 6.7 | | |0-10 %
EO | | | 7.7 | H |0.0-7.0 %
BASO | | 0.8 | | |0.0-2.0 %
MANUAL DIFF | | NO | | |
RBC MORPH | | NORMAL | | |NORMAL
MCV (94.8 FL) and EO (7.7%) are both elevated, with everything else in the normal range. I'd like to know what this means, and also if I'm at any higher risk of anything. Due to family history, I'm particularly concerned about heart disease, atherosclerosis, and stroke/hemorrhage. Thanks!
CT scan of upper abdomen and a thyroid scan
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Mean corpuscular volume (MCV) is the average amount of space occupied by each red blood cell.
MCV can be high due to liver disease, alcohol abuse, hypothyroidism and having too little vitamin B12 or folic acid.
Increased MCV has no relationship with heart disease, atherosclerosis and stroke.
You need to do a CT scan of upper abdomen and a thyroid scan to find about the condition of your liver and thyroid glands.
High eosinophil (EO) count can be due to eczema, parasitic infestations, asthma and allergic rhinitis.
It can also be due to side effect of drugs, such as amphetamines, tranquilizers, bulk type laxatives containing psyllium and certain antibiotics.
Without treatment high numbers of eosinophils can accumulate in the heart and other organs, which can lead to nerve damage, heart failure, lung disease and blood clots.

Are the numbers I provided alarmingly high, or just slightly high?
I'm particularly concerned about the EO count because of the possibility of heart issues...is 7.7% very dangerous?
I have irritable bowel, so I do take psyllium nightly. I also had asthma as a kid and still have some allergies.
I see a doctor later this week and will talk to her about this, but I'm not sure how worried I should be.
Thanks much!
slightly high.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
The MCV and EO are just slightly high.
As you take psyllium and had asthma as kid and have some allergies the slightly high range could be due to it.
Stopping psyllium and avoiding substances which cause allergy will bring back the EO level to its normal range.
You do not need to worry and this slight increase in EO will not cause any cardiac problem.
If you have no more clarifications then please rate the answer and close the thread.

I will talk to the doctor and reevaluate psyllium use?
My appointment is on Thursday and due to the nature of my IBS, I could have some major issues (specifically constipation) if I stopped psyllium immediately - would it be safe to wait and talk to her?
Just to clarify, you said my current EO levels are just slightly high. Does that mean no significantly increased risk for heart problems/atherosclerosis? Does this apply long-term, or just no immediate danger (at these levels)?
Thanks!
syrup lactulose
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Since psyllium cause increase of EO and your appointment is on thurday with your doctor i would advise you to take syrup lactulose 15 ml at night after food for constipation instead of psyllium.
Right now with this range of EO which is slightly high there is no increased risk of heart problems long term.
