Brief Answer:
Tis is caused by hypertrophied prostate!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.

Given the age of your father and the symptoms, this is typical of prostate hypertrophy. This manifests with frequent urination in small quantities. I am sure he has a weak urine stream, strains to urinate and often has this feeling that there is still some urine left in the bladder. This is typical and really becomes unavoidable with increasing age.

Medications do offer relief, but not always. At times, surgery is the definitive solution but am not sure if undergoing such an aggressive procedure is advisable at his age. Check his medications and see whether he has a drug like Terazosin/doxazosin, etc. They are collective lively known as alpha1 agonist and highly recommended in such cases.

If he’s not on, then let him try them. If he is already on them, i suggest it should be increased until the maximum dose is attained. In addition, avoiding fluids intake and alcohol before bed time should be encouraged.

I wish him well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be.
