Brief Answer: Haemochromatosis carrier patients are normal. Detailed Answer: HelloXXXX Thanks for writing to HCM I don't think high GGT and ALT in your blood is due to your carrier state of Haemochromatosis. Haemochromatosis is a recessive disorder. This means that haemochromatosis will only occur if both copies of the gene are abnormal. If only one copy is defective, then person will be perfectly healthy but will be a 'carrier'. High ferritin level are also found in inflammatory disorders of liver(like autoimmune hepatitis and malignancy),viral hepatitis, alcoholic and non alcoholic liver disease etc.In these disorders GGT and ALT are also deranged so,these causes should be excluded. It is also important to see other organs that are involved in Haemochromatosis like heart, pancreas, skin etc. You need proper evaluation by a gastroenterologist.Further investigations like Ultrasound of abdomen,ECHO etc should be done. Proper treatment depend upon final diagnosis. Get well soon. Hope I have answered your question. Further queries are most welcome. Take Care Dr.Indu XXXXXXX
