What Does High Level Of Triglycerides Indicate?

High level of triglycerides and reasons.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX P.
Your daughter is 10 year old and having high level of serum triglyceride and typically low level of cholesterol (whole ).
I want to tell you that cholesterol is also known as lipoprotein in medical terms .
Serum triglyceride is one component of lipoprotein ( cholesterol ).
There is an enzyme in our body , which is essential for hydrolysis of triglyceride , due to deficiency of this enzyme there develop HIGH level of triglyceride .
This enzyme is known as LIPOPROTEIN LIPASE ( LPL ).
LPL is required for the hydrolysis of triglycerides in chylomicrons and VLDL ( very low density lipoprotein , a type of cholesterol ).
ApoC-II is a cofactor of LPL.
Genetic deficiency of either LPL or apoC-II results in impaired lipolysis and profound elevation in triglyceride .
So in my opinion your daughter may have these signs ( reading) due to FAMILIAL CHYLOMICRONEMIA SYNDROME ;TYPE I hyperlipoproteinemia.
Diagnosis can be confirmed by estimation of LPL and apoC-II deficiency by assaying triglyceride lipolytic activity in post-heparin plasma.
I am sorry to mention in detail , particularly medical terms ,but it was essential for your knowledge.
So please get in fundoscopic examination by an ophthalmologist ( eye doctor).
Since this is a rare disorder ( not disease ) , so if you have any further question I will happily reply.Consultation with a registered dietician familial with this disorder is essential.
Good luck .

High level of triglycerides and effect on eyes.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX P.
Yes very nice to hear that your this daughter don't having any eye problem .
Since , if I am correct, this is a rare case ( according to scientific study ) and , for reasons unknown , some patients with persistent and pronounced CHYLOMICRONEMIA never develop any symptoms (other symptoms are pancreatitis, eruptive xanthomas( yellowish white pappules) or hepatosplenomegaly i.e. enlargement of liver & spleen).
Now about EYES the retinal blood vessels are opalescent (lipemia retinalis).
I mentioned just , all these possible symptoms , which may have children .
Both LPL &apoC-II deficiency usually present in childhhod .
As I mentioned that due to unknown reason eyes may get hamper in blood supply but exact reason some ophthalmologist can tell.
When you go for BLOOD work ,please get in assessment of triglyceride lipolytic activity in post-heparin plasma.
Blood is SAMPLED after an intravenous heparin injection to release endothelial-bound lipases .
LPL activity is profoundly reduced in both LPL and apoC-II DEFICIENCY ;in patient with apoC-II deficiency ..
These are medical terms but a PATHOLOGIST will establish exact diagnosis.
Hope this will help you.
If possible please attach all report ( upload ) , I will be happy to reply in follow up.
Good luck for both daughters

Familial chylomicronemia syndrome & its effect.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX
First of all I want to tell that , it is not necessary that any symptoms will develop .
For reason unknown, some patients with persistent and pronounced chylomicronemia NEVER DEVELOP pancreatitis ( infection of pancreas i.e. in the abdomen behind mid of abdomen in layman terms) eruptive xanthoma (papule or rashes on skin in layman terms), hepatosplenomegaly ( enlargement of liver on the right side in abdomen and spleen on the left side in abdomen).
As in previous reply I wrote lipemia retinalis ( effect on eyes portion where images are formed ).
Hope you will understand , but still if you want to make anything clear I will happily reply.
Good luck.
