Brief Answer:
It should be considered as an accident.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have undergone No Scalpel Vasectomy last week .

The severed end of the Vas is routinely sent for histopathological confirmation which in your case has turned out to be negative for Vas .It does happen sometime even in hands of experienced surgeon that any other structure like a vessels or nerve is mistaken for Vas .

Since this has been realized and confirmed by histopathologist I would suggest you to visit operating surgeon and get re operated again .

There is nothing to be worried about .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,
I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Dear Dr XXXXXXX
Yes, i went through a NSV. I am still undergoing a little pain (a tinging pain )and inflammation. I am considering meeting the surgeon tomorrow, but i want to be very careful this time. I am surprised to hear that a vessel or nerve could be mistaken for Vaz. I would like to know if such is the case what could be the complications, is it advisable to go for an immediate re surgery or wait till i am fully recovered. Intuitively i felt something wrong during the surgery as i felt a tremendous pain on the right side during operation much against what i heard and read before the surgery.

is it advisable to go to the same or another doctor for rectification ? I cannot obviously be wrong the second time.

Thanks XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
You can wait for 3-4 weeks before going for second surgery .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up.
You can certainly wait for 3-4 weeks before going for redo surgery by this time all the local inflammation will subside .

As regards ligating vessel or nerve there are ample of collateral vessels and nerve innervation supplying blood to testicle hence there is no risk of any complication .

I can understand your concern and anxiety But do remember these thing do happen in any surgery for that matter Be calm and have a have XXXXXXX discussion with the operating surgeon before you decide to go for redo surgery.

Thanks and Regards.
