Question : I am trying to understand a bone scan report, that says innumerable small foci of abnormal increased radionuclide activity through out most of the ribs. what does this mean????? Thanks, Al

                                    Brief Answer:
Pet scan
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Innumerable small foci of abnormal increased radionuclide activity throughout most ribs means cancer might have developed in your body somewhere else from which it has spread to your rib bones.
I would advise you to do a PET scan and if any space occupying lesion is found in scan then to do biopsy from it to rule out malignancy.

yes the cancer has spread from the prostate, but I am wondering if chemotherapy will kill or destroy these cells that have spread to my bones, or are they just going to get worse. I have all ready had 3 rounds of chemo, and still have these knawing pains in my ribs (back area, and lower neck) but not all the time. Will these pains go away if the chemo works, or just get worse. Please advise as best as you can, many sincere thanks, Al

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Yes chemotherapy can kill or destroy these cancer cells that have spread to your bones.
As you already have 3 rounds of chemotherapy your condition will gradually improve and your pain will go away if the chemotherapy works.
You must also do blood test for PSA to see if it has come down from the initial level.
Wishing you good health
