I'm a 51 year old female with a medical history of a hysterectomy, hyperthyroidism (Synthroid 224 mcg), obesity, smoking, arthritis with right hip replacement (Nov 2017). Four to five weeks ago I started felling intermittent nausea and experiencing diarrhea daily. I do not have a history of any gastrointestinal disorders. The nausea has lead to lost of weight (8 pounds over the last 3 weeks) and lack of appetite. I'm also experiencing night sweats and insomnia. I've been experiencing menopausal symptoms for 6 years but never nausea. Also, when I take a shower I get a shortness of breath, sweats and nausea (every time). I tried lowing the temp of the shower but it still results in the same symptoms.
Various Causes possible
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
You should get a stool analysis to exclude the presence of infectious gastroenteritis and a test for H.pylori infection as a cause of nausea.
Also, you should check on your thyroid hormonal profile including fT3, fT4, and TSH as there might be a need for a dose adjustment of your thyroid medication which might be causing insomnia and the night sweats.
Another thing is that you should get a CT scan of your chest as weight loss accompanied by night sweats and shortness of breath (with a history of smoking) might be an alarming sign of tumor formation.
In the meanwhile, you can take Tab. Metoclopramide (Primperan) 10mg every eight hours for next 2-3 days to relieve nausea.
Hope I have answered your query.
Take care
