Question : Hi, in January I fell on the sidewalk and a rebar punched a 1/4 inch hole just below my kneecap. The doctor did an x ray and said there wasn’t any injury to the joint or anything. It’s healed a lot but I still can’t do squats (the exercise) or run or jump very well because the pressure on my knee begins to hurt it. Will it ever go back to the same as it was before? If so does it just take time for it to heal completely? About how long do you think it would take until I can have full range of motion again?
Brief Answer:
Do an MRI to check soft tissues of knee.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I think that since January there was a enough time for the joint to heal and get back to normal.
I think you may need to do an MRI of the joint to see tendons and soft tissues around it which may have been damaged and not fully recovered.
I don't think it may need more time to get healed because you have waited enough.
Hope I have answered the question.
