Question : My wife delivered 6 weeks ago and we gave her cord blood for storage we now received a letter stating that her blood has cmv ig G reactive. Is this something to worry? The baby is healthy now. Should I check whether the baby also has the cmv? What is the situation now?

Dear XXXX
There is absolutely no cause for concern. No further testing of mother and baby are required.
Presence of IgG antibody denotes immunity to CMV. It does not indicate active infection. Active infection is indicated by positive Ig M antibody.
Rest be assured.
