Question : I recently began alendronate sodium for osteoporosis. I understand it inhibits osteoclasts. What doe it mean, I’d anything, that my serum C-telopeptide is decreasing.
Brief Answer:
It suggests alendronate is working well.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Osteoclasts are responsible for bone resorption and decreases the bone density. Alendronate sodium inhibits these cells and this decreases the bone resorption.
The decrease in levels of C-telopeptide indicates a decrease in bone resorption and suggests that alendronate is working correctly.
I hope this answers your query. In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out. Wishing you good health.
