Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this brown mucus and the discoloration of your cervix. It is very rare for cancer to produce brown mucus. Brown mucus is more suggestive of an infection and not cancer. Unless you have not been doing your regular pap smears, there is simply no way that the first time cancer of the cervix would be discovered is when it is already visible to the naked eyes. This would be very less likely.
No single symptom can tell for real whether this is cancer of the cervix or not. Only a tissue diagnosis can conclude on this. By this, there is just no reason to feel terrible unless a specimen result conclude on cancer. Even if it were to be cervical cancer, treatment in early stages is often complete with minimal side effects and complications.
In all, this is unlikely to be suggestive of a cancer. The findings are more suggestive of a cervical infection. Patiently wait for the results and do not get too worried. Even if it were to be cancer, early stages can be easily treated.
I hope this addresses your query fully. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and please feel free to ask for further information and clarification if need be. Thanks.

Thank you , and sorry for not replying sooner . I went for my Smear test today but the nurse refused to do it as I have been fast tracked to the Gynocologyst unit at XXXXXXX Hospital next Thursday. The nurse stated that I shouldn't worry as my signs at present are not giving her warning signs of Cervical Cancer , She feels that it most probably will be a Cervical Infection. And if it was Cervical Cancer it would be in the very early stages, and curable . I still feel a little anxious but not to the extent I was after I saw my GP. The nurse also said that my GP doesn't have the experience a Gyno Dr has so that is why she didn't explain much .
I am so grateful for your kind words and reassurance , Thank you .

NOT infection.NOT cancer either! Be CALM
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this update.
I understand you when you say your anxiety is back. Fear of the unknown is normal and expected. Even as a doctor, each time I take a test, I am always anxious as to what would be the outcome.
It is not an infection! Good news! Could it be cancer? We need more information for this. And even if this were to be cancer, do we have treatment for this? YES. So, we have just one concern here, to identify the problem. A solution would be tailored accordingly.
I will not make any call as to what this is. Follow up with the doctors and let's see what the final tissue diagnosis is. All I know and can guarantee you is that you will never walk alone on this and medicine has advanced to stages that you will not have to be too worried about the best possible treatment or side effects for the worse possible outcome that to you seems to be cancer.
Please, do not be afraid of cancer....be worried of the fact that we have not identified the cause. We have to take on this right now and that is what matters most. Identifying the problem and we would establish a treatment plan for you with the best available up to date evidence based practices depending on the final diagnosis.
In all, it is normal to get worried but it is no part of the solution. What matters is identifying the exact problem. No matter how frightening it is, you can be rest assured of the best possible care for it.
Let me hear from you and stay positive after meeting with your doctors.
Thanks.
