What Does Low HgB Indicate?

Question : My blood work came back .. Noticed my HgB is 11.2 low .. Shouldnintake iron supplement ? Did not do a iron alone test. This is ftom hopsital lab work. I can barely keep my eyes open I was wondering if this has anything to do with it it's really bad I always feel like after 8 PM I can barely keep my eyes open I go right to bed and a comatose state could this be an issue with iron? Please help me all CBC and Liver and lipid panel normal .

Brief answer....should be investigated more Detailed answer.... Hello, Thanks for the query. Although your HB is little low but these levels of HB should not result in the symptoms you are presenting with. You need to be investigated more and specially for hypothyroidism,diabetes,serum VIT D,serum VIT B12 and calcium. You can also get the iron studies done, Please discuss with your doctor about the above mentioned causes and get the investigations done.
