Question : i have sgpt 57.
is it harmful, what other tests need to be done if it is harmful and what are the alternate/medicines to control it.
Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
SGOT and SGPT are liver enzymes. Mild alteration in liver function can cause a rise in their levels. A level of 57 is a mild rise in levels which if accompanied by normal other liver function tests is no cause for concern. You can take course of liver tonics for 6 weeks to normalise it. Ornithine compounds or tricholine citrate / sorbitol combination is the best.
I hope this answers your query.
