Brief Answer: Please consult neurosurgeon Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX Thanks for writing in to us. The multicystic pineal lesion is a fluid containing growth in the region of pineal gland which is located in the brain. Most multicystic lesions are benign and cause problems only due to their size. It is important to know the complete description and size of your lesion. While small lesions can be left and watched for any changes that may occur in future, bigger ones might need to be operated upon if it is causing pressure symptoms in your brain. You must take an early appointment with a neurosurgeon and discuss the pineal cyst in detail. Any endocrine abnormalities should be investigated and possibility of a pineal tumor must be evaluated. In most patients a multicystic pineal lesion is harmless and slow growing. Your optic neuritis is an inflammatory condition of the optic nerves and you should get treated for that too. Hope your query is answered. Do write back if you have any doubts. Wishing you good health. Regards, Dr.Vivek

Brief Answer: Optic neuritis is not connected to pineal cyst Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX Thanks for writing back with an update. It is possible that your cyst is benign in nature due to cystic appearance. However, the cyst, if small, needs to be evaluated 6 monthly or yearly for growth in size. The symptoms of headaches and dizziness may be due to the cyst. The size of the cyst is important to know but even a small cyst can cause symptoms and visual symptoms are usually first to be noticed. The optic neuritis is not related to the pineal cyst. Your optic neuritis needs to be closely followed up too with your doctor. Hope your query is answered. Do write back if you have any doubts. Wishing you good health. Regards, Dr.Vivek
