Posted on Mon, 24 Aug 2015
Question: I'm 30 with an AMH level of 1.1. My periods have always been regular. We are planning for last 5 months, tried 1 IUI to with no success. Went to an infertility doctor who suggests us to stay on start IVF immediately. Please let us know your thoughts on this.

Sperm count is normal.
I'm taking EEMA-D tablet (Dehydroepiandrosterone Capsules) for the past 1 month with several other fertility bidding medicines.

Brief Answer:
IVF is better option

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I saw your AMH report. It is low which indicates decreased eggs in your ovaries.

In such situation it is better to go for IVF as egg count is likely to reduce further.

This egg count or AMH is unlikely to increase with EEMA D or any other DHEA medicines.

I suggest you go ahead with IVF as per your doctor's advice.

Let me know if you need anymore clarification.

Hi thanks for your quick reply. I was just wondering if my ovarian reserve is already low and in case we aren't successful in our first ivf attempt, then we won't have any egg left. Isn't it?

So my question is can my low AMH cause problem in natural conception provided I ovulate regularly?
Because we were planning to try natural conception for another 3 months and start ivf on the 4th month. Please let me know if you think this is a bad idea.

Brief Answer:
You can try for 3 months

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Trying naturally for another 3 months is not a bad idea. There won't be much difference if you try naturally for 3 months as egg reserves won't go down so soon.

IVF success can only be determined after seeing egg or embryo quality.

AMH value is not only criteria. Number of eggs on ultrasound scan also is an important parameter of IVF success.

Let me know if you need any more clarification.

Thanks a lot; that's a bit relieving.
I was also wondering since we have few months to try naturally, do you think IUI will give us a better chance of success?
