Question: Had diverticulitis 7months ago. CT scan found mild diverticulosis. been doing fine and really watching my diet. I had a broken tooth with a jagged filling exposed, well 48 hours ago I broke the rest of the tooth and swallowed it a d the jagged filling. will this pass through or is it likely to cause an intestinal problem? How long does it take for it to be expelled in your stool. I didn't check stool 9 hours after. I did check 35 hours later, nothing .should I keep checking

Brief Answer:
There is no need for further checking,it has passed out with stool.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Tooth and its filling material can easily pass out of your body, you shouldn't worry at all.
There is no question of intestinal obstruction due to tooth ingestion. Our intestine has stretching capacity and tooth is a very tiny material.
There is no need for further checking,it has definitely passed out with stool.
It may be passed out in first 9 hours.

Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your query.
