Question : I had fall and a concussion 2 weeks ago. CT scan a few days later showed subdural bleeding (brain bleed). I am now over the general headaches and sharp pain at the site of the bleeding, but still a bit light headed when I turn to fast. I also notice that I stumble a good bit when I walk if I don't concentrate. Otherwise, I'm feeling almost normal. I have a cross country plane trip scheduled in two weeks. Is this dangerous?

Brief Answer:
Subdural bleeding could be life threatening.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

If head CT showed subdural bleeding, hitting your head didn't result in concussion, it was a TBI ( traumatic brain injury).

Subdural bleeding/hematoma usually results from broken vessels between brain and its coverings, it is a potential life threatening condition if not treated correctly.

There is need for a close follow up of your neurologic status and periodic brain imaging ( CT scan ).

If significant growth of subdural hematoma over time, or development of new neurologic symptoms ( hemiparesis, difficulty speaking and interact with others, decreased consciousness ), surgical evacuation of hematoma is needed.

In my opinion, traveling should be cancelled and follow up with a Neurosurgeon and head CT ( if no neurologic changes, after two weeks) is needed.

Hope this helps. I remain at your disposal for further questions and clarifications.

Take care.
