Question : Hi I recently had a lumbar MRI due to a lump...possible lipoma on left upper buttock. No contrast. Not sure if it was the right MRI to order as nothing was seen although the lump is clearly visible under skin and palpable with pain on sitting and radiating. MRI was basically normal with some shallow bulging discs and arthritis.
First is the Lumbar MRI the right one to pick this area up ..and 2nd...can you tell me on the attached image...what the squiggly line is? Nothing mentioned on MRI? Thinking some kind of vein? But it seems to hit the surface...and then run down..so not sure if that is the area with the lump and pain. I inverted the MRI image just to have it stand out clearer on up load.

You should personally talk to radiologist about your clinical finding.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
MRI is the investigation of choice for detecting soft tissue pathology.
There is no mass s/o lipoma in uploaded four images. It need detail examination of relevant sections after clinical assessment.
I suggest you to personally talk to radiologist about your clinical finding. It may require review if lesion has been missed.
Dark zig-zag line in gluteal muscle is a normal finding. It has ended below subcutaneous region and it is a vein.
