Question: A friend had an issue with lower back muscle spasms and pain. Medicated with muscle relaxers. A CT scan was done, showing a mass on both sides of the lower back. An MRI has been ordered. What can these mass(es) be?mlall

I have gone through your question and understand your concern.
Soft tissue around spine needs to be investigated by mri rather than CT.
Bilateral mass on CT can be abscess or tumor.
Please upload report of CT to comment more accurately about lesion based on CT findings.
