What Does My MRI Scan Test Report Indicate?

Treatment to be given after confirming cause of current seizure by scanning
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.
1. The features on CT scan and MRI scan show the possibility of an active granuloma which was there at the time of scanning. This is due to infection with neurocysticercosis which is a type of tape worm. It reaches the brain through ingestion of eggs in food and water. When it grows then it causes seizures because of abnormal electrical activity in the brain and that is what happened to you. It is not clear when last CT scan or MRI scan was done.
2. Epsolin is given to control the electrical activity in brain due to the brain and stop seizures. If you are having seizures again then a recent brain scan is required with EEG investigation. This will tell clearly where is the problem area and will confirm the presence of disease. Once this is known then epsolin might be continued again under recommendation from your doctor.
3. Right now please consult a neurologist and get a CT scan or MRI scan brain done to know if there is new area which is involved by worm. Doing EEG will tell the pattern of electrical activity and help match the disease area. Once the cause of seizure is confirmed then your doctor might tell you to continue with epsolin. If there is brain edema then anti edema treatment and anti worm treatment might also have to be provided.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek
