Question : An MRI for tinnitus and hearing loss was conducted earlier this week. While nothing related to the hearing loss was found, a 1.2 cm mass was found in the cheek adjacent to the masseter muscle. Possible necrotic lymph node, or something else. My ENT physician is doing a biopsy later today. What questions should I ask her? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
In my opinion , biopsy will confirm the diagnosis .

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

In my opinion , biopsy will confirm the diagnosis .

Most probably it can be inflammatory lymph node or benign tumor/mass common in this region .

No need to concern too much .

Management will depend upon biopsy report of mass .

Till the report comes ,
Start Antiseptic chlorhexidine/Betadin Mouth Wash twice daily .

Ask about color & consistency of aspiration on biopsy . Thick yellowish discharge will indicate infective pathology . XXXXXXX fluid on aspiration will indicate cystic nature of mass .

Hope this information helpful to you .If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

Regards.
