Question : I Have been on brand name thyroid replacement for 25 years. My TSH stays within acceptable range. Now I am becoming aware of the role T3 and T4 play in the balance. I am quite fatigued with no contributing problems found. Should I discuss checking these other values with my Provider?

Brief Answer:
About hypothyroidism treatment;

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!
I can understand your concern.
There are many patients being treated with levothyroxine and he norme TSH but still the symptoms of hypothyroidism are present.
In these cases Ft3 is a good indicator of the dose.
You should of course check Ft4 and Ft3 and adjust the dose according especially to Ft3 level.
Insist with your physician for the presence of hypothyroidism symptoms.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
