Question : Hi Doctor,

I will be completing my 12th week of pregnancy in another 3 days. I got my USG report today which showed a 20X20 mm uterine fibroid. Am already on progesterone tablets and injection. I wanted to know if 1hr air travel is safe for me in my 14th week?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to HCM,
It is important to learn the location of the fibroid during pregnancy. If the fibroid is subserosal then there is no concern of bleeding at all unless intramural. But as you are on progesterone support the further growth of fibroid shall be prevented and as the pregnancy shall grow , it shall thin out , not causing any harm to pregnancy ( which itself is a progestognenic state).
However flight travels are allowed only after 16 week of gestation when placentation is complete and there are practically no chances of any bleeding.
Please share the usg report.

Hi Doctor XXXXXXX

Thanks for the response. I don't see the option of attaching a file. The report says

Small serosal & intramural fibroids seen. Largest measuring 22X20mm in anterior wall. rest all is normal.

Detailed Answer:
Okay , in that case i suggest a repeat ultrasound after a month to review the size of the fibroid, it is likely to decrease. These fibroids are not going to afect your pregnancy at all now, but still flight travel should be undertaken after 16 weeks of gestation to be on a preventive side.
