What Does My Abdominal Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 16 Nov 2017
Question: Hi, I recently went in for an abdominal ultrasound. Everything looked normal although the liver had normal size and contours it had some echocentricity indicating possible fatty liver. I am about 20 to 25 pounds over weight, I am short waisted so I do gain weight around the middle, but I have recently lost 10 pounds, I run 2 to 3 miles 4 days a week and I don't have diabetes. I also have not had a drink of alcohol in 26 years. Should I be concerned?

Hello There!
Thank you for asking Health Care Magic.
I have gone through your question and i understand your concern.
First let me congartulate you for starting to run and take care of your health. Keep doing it regulary.

From the information you write you have what we call possible non-alcoholic fatty liver. Being overweight , especially when you gain weight in the middle is the reasson that there is fat in your liver.
This situation increase the risk of cardio-vascular problems also ( heart problems).

The best way to prevent the liver to get worse is physical activity (loose weight , especially in the middle ) and a fatty free diet.
I would suggest to check your cholesterol, triglycerides ( fat in the blood ) if they are in high levels .

Hope the answer is helpfull.
Wish you good health.
Take Care!
