I had a recent angiogram that showed 3 lesions at 20% and 2 at 10%. 2 of the 20% lesions are in proximal LAD across from each other. Is there a test or tests can can show it the plaques are vulnerable and what percentage of plaques this size rupture? And if any do rupture what are the chances it isa fatal event. I was taking Livalo but had sexual effects. Is that a common side effect to that drug. I am on Crestor. I was on Crestor in the past and had muscle pain but since I've been taking ubiqunol now ive been ok. Can I stop progression of or reverse the plaque How do I prevent the plaques from rupturing?

Brief Answer:
Your LAD is normal mild plaquing is natural.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thanks for posting your query on this forum.
As prr your query-
Your LAD is perfectly normal.Plaquing is a natural phenomenon which starts after age of 10 years.
Only plaques more then 85% are significant.Mild degree of plaquing (20-30%) can even be seen in childrensore then 10 years of age.
As we grow old our arteries get stiffened and calcium starts accumulating on them leading to mild plaquing.
20% has no clinical significance.
Rupture of plaques is usually seen at 90 to 95%.In more then 40% plaque rupture is fatal.
You are 49 i think atleast for next 15-20 years there is no possiblity of 90% blockage in LAD.As it is a natural phenomenon its not reversible however mild or moderate plaquing as explained earlier has no significance.

Livelo(Pitavastatin) is not required in your case unless you have dylipidemia(Increased cholestrol etc).Muscle pain was due to Livelo and not crestor.Myopathy is the most common side effect of statins.

Take home message-
Don't panic.
Your LAD is normal.
Follow a healthy low fat diet.
Take anti oxidants daily.
Exercise 45 minutes a day for atleast 6 days.
No smoking.
If you follow the above mentioned suggestions i don't think there is any chances of plaque progression to critical narrowing in next 10-15 years.

Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Follow up answer.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
Catheter ablation is a procedure used to selectively destroy areas of the heart that are causing a heart rhythm problem. Thin, flexible wires called catheters are inserted into a vein, typically in the groin or neck. They are threaded up through the vein and into the heart. Its a very effective procedure with high success rates.
Its a safe and good procedure i don't think you need to wait for 10-15 years down the line for something which is a bit better.

Thanks.
