What Does My Biopsy Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Fri, 20 Jan 2017
Question: My spouse ,31, suddenly felt restlessness and vaginal blleding after 13 weeks of gestation on 22-Dec-16. I suddenly
admitted to her a local hospital.
USG diagnosis confirms intrauterine fetal demise at 13 weeks gestation. And she immediately underwent suction evacuation
under GA. Discharged on the same day. There were biopsy and some other tests conducted. I will attach he reports. After 12 days
now, she is feeling better and vaginal bleeding(although scanty) stopped almost after 8-9 days.

Please check the biopsy report and let me know what to do. I am out of the town and can't make a followup with the same doctor. when does she expect her next period?
can she be conceive again in future?

Brief Answer:
Histopathology report normal

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
I have reviewed the reports and the discharge summary.
The histopathological report is suggestive of products of conception, which is normal and no abnormalities are found.
So, nothing needs to be done as of now.
However, second trimester miscarriage can be due to many causes like antiphospholipid antibody syndrome, diabetes, hypothyroidism and autoimmune diseases. So, she should be investigated for these conditions 6 weeks after the termination of pregnancy.
Her next periods are likely to come 4-6 weeks after evacuation.
Yes, she can definitely conceive again.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Thanks a lot for your reply, Dr.

May I know which clinical/pathological tests we should perform after 6 weeks of evacuation? So that I can get back to you after I perform the tests in due time.
