Question : I recently had blood work done as part of my health insurance preventive program. I have no regular physician, so I had work done at Doctor's Care. Triglycerides were 332 mg/dl and TSH was5.07ml/Ul. Doctor called in prescription for Synthroid 50mg and Lopid? 600mg. Is this SOP or should I seek other opinions before starting these medications. I am 64 years old, 185lbs, 6' tall and have no health complaints.

Brief Answer:
continue with the medicines prescribed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.
After reading your post, I would suggest that you can continue with the medicines prescribed by your doctor. These medications will help in treating your deranged blood reports.
I would advise that you should get your investigations repeated after three months of medications.
Also avoid oily foods. Regular exercise and healthy lifestyle changes will have added benefits.
I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any further query, I will be happy to help.
Regards. Thanks.
