default
Posted on Wed, 30 Mar 2016
Question: Hi
My recent blood report showed an sgpt level of 43 and tsh level of 5.2. I am on
Crestor 5 mg for the last 1.5 years for my cholesterol. All other readings are normal. I recently started Follihair supplement for hair fall. What can be the reason for an increase in my Sgpt level?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Requires evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
The rise in Liver enzymes can be due to following common reasons:
1. Alcoholic or Non Alcoholic Fatty liver disease.
2. Drugs.
3. Viral Hepatitis.
Crestor can also cause a rise in Liver enzymes but before we declare it as culprit we should be sure that there are no other reasons as mentioned above.
So I would recommend you following tests:
1. Ultrasound Abdomen to see for Fatty liver
2. HbsAg for Hepatitis B
3. Anti HCV antibody for Hepatitis C.

So get these tests done and write back to me with reports.
I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
