What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 7 Mar 2017
Question: Been treated for hyperthyroidism 40 years ago with radioactive pill of some kind, burning out part of thyroid. Current blood test show 5 points past the normal range indicating to me indicating a trend toward hypothyroidism but the doctor was hesitant to increase my synthroid dosage of 75 thinking it might push me "over the edge". What symptoms would possibly indicate an increase in the dosage is indicated or not indicated.

Brief Answer:
The symptoms of hypothyroidism.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, Welcome to HealthcareMagic,
I read carefully your question and understood your concern.

The main purpose of thyroid hormone is to "run the body's metabolism."
So,it is understandable that people ho have symptoms that are associated with a slow metabolism, lacks sufficient thyroid hormone. This condition is called hypothyroidism.

The symptoms of Hypothyroidism are:

-Fatigue
-Weakness
-Weight gain or increased difficulty losing weight
-Dry hair and rough pale skin
-Hair loss
-Cold intolerance (you can't tolerate cold temperatures like those around you)
-Muscle cramps and frequent muscle aches
-Constipation
-Depression
-Memory loss
-Abnormal menstrual cycles
-Decreased libido

When you start to have these symptoms, this means that your body needs more Synthroid.
So,in this circumstances your doctor must increase the dosage of Synthroid.

If you have no symptoms and your thyroid test results are within the normal range, this indicate that your actual dosage is right.

However, I need to see your thyroid test results to understand your actual situation. Just post it in the dialogue box or you can even upload/attach them at the reports section of this web-page.

Hope this is helpful.
If you have other questions, feel free and ask.
Take care.
