What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?

Question: I have been taking injections of Vitamin B12 once a month for the last four months since my latest blood test showed I was low in that vitamin. For the past two months, about two days after I get the shot, I start feeling like I have the flu, achy, headache and generally pinky. Is this a side effect and should I worry about it?

Brief Answer:
try taking it by another method

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It would not be the vitamin B12 causing these symptoms but it may be that you are having a reaction to something in the liquid that the vitamin is suspended in for injection.
I suggest that you try taking it in an oral or sublingual form instead of by injection. Talk to your doctor about making this change and see if the symptoms resolve.
Shots are not necessarily better than pills but the pills would need to be taken daily instead of monthly.
