Ethambutol might be essential to be added to the list
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Macox Plus Kid is an antitubercular medicine containing isoniazid and rifampicin. Since he suspects that the infection has not yet subsided, he has added another antitubercular ethambutol to the list. If his suspicion is correct, he has done the right thing by adding this medicine. In that case, please consider that the medicine needs to be given without worrying about side effects since it is essential to be given.
Side effects of ethambutol consist of eye problems, liver toxicities, allergic reactions, chills, vomiting and joint pain. Let me assure you that side effects with ethambutol are not frequently seen, rather side effects with the other two medicines are relatively more common. So you need not worry.
The rationale behind your doctor treating for tuberculosis needs to be assessed. So, I would insist you to get a second opinion in this regard.
Wish for a quick recovery for your son.

It could indicate enlarged lymph nodes
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.
Radiological signs are hard to explain in singularity. You are mentioning one finding from the x ray. It has to be correlated with other findings in the x ray. Hilar density could enlarged lymph nodes which could be a sign of tuberculosis. But diagnosing tuberculosis just based on this finding alone might not be the right thing and so I asked you to seek a second opinion.
I hope that helps. If you found my answer helpful, please close the thread with a positive review and a 5 star rating.
