What Does My Lab Test Report Indicate?

Question: HI My uncle has been complaining of stomach pain and is not able to eat anything properly. He was tested for LFT and below are the reports

Bilurubin Total : 5.5mg/dL
Bilurubin direct : 3.1mg/dL
Bilurubin Indirect : 2.4mg/dL
SGT(AST) : 34 U/L
SGPT(ALT) : 31 U/L
Alkaline Phospatase : 75 U/L
Gamma Glutamyl Transferase : 52 U/L
Protein Total : 5.9 g/dL
Albumin : 3.1 g/dL


Please advise on his condition.

May be due to hemolytic jaundice- needs investigations and Hemotologist

Hi.
Thanks for your query and posting of hte report.

It specifically shows only two things:
High Bilirubin
low proteins.

Such a picture is seen with a few conditions like:
Hemolytic jaundice meaning where there is more destruction of the red blood cells than would normally occur.
Gilbert's Syndrome.

I would advise you the following:
Get the complete hemogram, serum iron/ferritin, Kidney functions
Repeat Liver function tests.
Clinical evaluation and examination by a MD Medicine (Physician).
Ultrasonography of the abdomen.
Referral to the Hematologist or so as per the findings and get the early diagnosis for proper plan of treatment.
