Brief Answer:
Do Pap test. Attend your doctors appointment for follow up Don't miss them

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.
The high risk HPV virus is linked to cervical cancer. Most women fight off this virus in a year or two. In some women it can cause cellular changes in the cervix which can lead to cervical cancer if these cellular changes are not treated.
It is important that this test is read with Pap smear test result. What is your Pap test result?

If your Pap test is normal your doctor will repeat both the tests in a years time. By then your body might have got rid of this virus.
If your Pap test is abnormal, depending on the degree of abnormality your doctor will plan either just follow up or colposcopy and biopsy or colposcopy and treatment.
What is important is not to miss any of these doctors appointments.
If you are a smoker please stop smoking as it can harm your body cells including cervix .
I once again repeat that most women fight off the HPV virus.
I hope this is helpful.
If you have further queries do write to me. I will be happy to answer.
Best wishes
Dr Rama
